Today we celebrate the arrival of the Magi (often called the three wise men, although the Bible gives no indication of how many there – we guess at three because there were three gifts mentioned). Epiphany is important because it’s the time when we remember the first time when gentiles (non-Jews: folks like many of us!) were introduced to the gospel. This coming Sunday (Jan. 12) we’ll remember and celebrate the Baptism of Jesus. (Matt. 3, Mark 1, and Luke 3)
