Worship With Us

At Redeemer Lutheran Church in Burlington, NC, our worship services are centered on the gifts of Christ for His people. We gather each Lord’s Day not to put on a performance or to chase what is fashionable, but to receive what God Himself has promised to give through His Word and Sacraments. In a noisy and restless world, the Divine Service is a place of peace, reverence, and joy, where the crucified and risen Lord Jesus comes to serve His people with forgiveness, life, and salvation.

If you are searching for a church in Burlington, NC where worship is rooted in Scripture, shaped by the historic Christian faith, and focused on Christ, we invite you to join us. Redeemer Lutheran Church is a congregation of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod, and our worship reflects the richness of the confessional Lutheran tradition. We gladly confess the faith of the one holy Christian and apostolic Church, and our services are marked by faithful preaching, prayer, hymnody, and the reverent administration of the Sacraments.

Each Sunday, Bible Class for adults and Sunday School for children begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by worship at 11:00 a.m. We meet at 2306 Lacy St, Burlington, NC 27215. Our services are also livestreamed from our Facebook page each week beginning at 11:00 a.m. Eastern time, making it possible for those who are homebound, traveling, or learning about our congregation from a distance to join us.

In our worship, you can expect a liturgical service that is both deeply Biblical and historically Christian. The liturgy is filled with the language of Holy Scripture and has been handed down through the life of the Church as a faithful way of confessing Christ. We sing hymns rich in doctrinal substance, pray together as God’s people, confess our sins, hear His absolution, listen to readings from the Old Testament, Epistles, and Holy Gospel, and receive a sermon centered on Christ and His saving work. In this way, worship at Redeemer is not entertainment, but the Lord’s gracious service to His people.

Holy Baptism and the Lord’s Supper are treasured among us as gifts instituted by Christ Himself. In these means of grace, the Lord delivers the promises of His Gospel personally and concretely to His people. Because we believe that the Sacraments are holy gifts to be received in faith and unity of confession, we are glad to speak with visitors who have questions about our practice and teaching. Our desire is always to be faithful, clear, and pastoral.

Redeemer Lutheran Church in Burlington, NC welcomes all who desire to hear God’s Word. Pastor Dr. Charles Spomer faithfully serves our congregation through preaching, teaching, and pastoral care. We invite you to join us and receive the comfort, strength, and hope that He freely gives.

Parents with Young Children

Welcome! We’re glad to have you join us. Our Lord said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God” (Mark 10:14). Jesus wants your children to be in church with you, and so do we. As a result, we don’t send children out into a separate “children’s church” or nursery, but we all worship God together, whether we are nine months or ninety years.

We know that children tend to squirm and squeal, and we’re quite accustomed to it. We even find it kind of charming. Please don’t feel embarrassed,  you and your children are welcome at Christ the King.

We follow a consistent liturgy (order of worship) each week, which allows your children to settle into the routine. As we go through the service, encourage your children to join in the prayers and responses: “Amen!” “And with thy spirit!” “Our Father…” and so on. Be sure to sing and speak your parts as we go through the service, your children learn by following your lead.

If you have to step out for a moment, we have a cry room at the rear of the church with a large window that lets you see what’s going on in the service and a speaker connected to the sound system that lets you hear, so that you can participate even when your child needs a few moments away.
