About us: we are a family friendly congregation of God’s people in Burlington, NC. We are in fellowship with the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.
We believe and teach God’s infallible Word, and how sinners are brought to God and His love by that Word. Our teachings are in accord with the Lutheran Book of Concord.
What we do for you: if you are not yet a believer, we are here to show you God’s way of salvation, and how your sins are forgiven in Christ, by trusting in God’s Word of forgiveness and having your sins washed away in Baptism. We teach you how to pray, how to study God’s Word, and we joyfully celebrate Christ’s gift of His Body and Blood weekly in the Lord’s Supper.
When We Meet
We have Bible class for all adults every Sunday at 10, taught by our Pastor.
Children’s Sunday School for all ages also meets at 10.
The Divine Service of worship is at 11, immediately following our classes. Our service normally lasts about an hour.
During the seasons of Lent and Advent, we have Wednesday evening midweek services at 7:30 pm. Those services are preceded by a simple soup supper.
On the first Sunday of the month, we have a potluck lunch after worship for a time of fellowship. Everyone is welcome.
What We Believe
Glad you asked!
The short answer is that we believe the Bible. Everything we do and teach is subject to the Scriptures, and is bound by them. We unqualifiedly confess that the Lutheran confessions found in the Lutheran Book of Concord are a correct and valid exposition of the teachings of the Scriptures.
Our worship is a traditional service of the preaching of God’s Word, and receiving Christ’s gift of His Body and Blood in the Lord’s Supper. While some of the minor details have been tweaked over the centuries, our worship is essentially what you would have found in Christ’s church from the very beginning. We are receivers of that gift, and one of our jobs is to pass that gift along to the generations that come after us.

What about the kids?
Your children – no matter what age – are always welcome both to Sunday school and – even more important – in worship. Most children are surprisingly adaptable, and when they’re with their parents in worship, they learn how to hear God’s Word. We have a special children’s message as well. And if your little one starts crying? It happens. And that child is welcome to remain there. If you want to take the little one out for a few minutes, that’s fine, too. But the bottom line is that we welcome all children, all ages. Jesus said (Matthew 19:14) to let the little children come to him. We hope that we, too, can embody that welcome.
I’m A Visitor …
Well, first, we’re glad to have you! You are seriously welcome. At the same time, no one is going to pounce. We’ll welcome you, and answer any questions you may have, but no one’s going to try to get you to sign up or anything like that. And no one expects you to give money unless you want to. Just consider yourself our guest.
If you are from another church tradition, you might find our services a little puzzling. We stand and kneel a lot, and we follow an order of service (“a liturgy”) that you may be unfamiliar with. If you have questions, feel free to ask the pastor before (or after) the service. If you’re in the middle of the service, and unsure about something, one of the folks around you can probably guide you.
And you are not somehow required to participate in anything you’re not comfortable with.
If you’re new and are not a member of another congregation in the LCMS fellowship, please refrain from communion until you’ve had a conversation with the pastor. We want to be welcoming, but participation in communion means agreement in doctrine and fellowship, and we take that seriously. Even if you are not communing, you are welcome to come forward (but again, not required) to kneel at the altar, and receive a blessing.
Our Pastor
Our pastor is the Rev. Dr. Charles Spomer. A graduate of Concordia Theological Seminary in St. Louis, MO, he and his wife live here in Burlington.
Fellowship
We have both a men’s and women’s fellowship group. Both groups meet monthly for fellowship and service to our congregation and community.

We are located at 2306 Lacy Street, in Burlington. We’re about a mile from I-85/40, and close to downtown Burlington. Lacy Street is off of Alamance Road, and there’s a suite of dental offices on the corner where you turn. The church is about 1/4 mile up Lacy Street on the left, in a residential neighborhood. There’s a parking lot, or you can park on the street, as you wish.
